Avatar will be down for approximately one hour from 04:00 EST (system
time) on 12th January 2012 (tomorrow) for a server migration. When we
come back up, we will be temporarily running on the Avatar West server,
however all pfiles and data will be fully migrated over. There may be a
slight delay while the DNS for avatar.outland.org is updated, so please
use avatarwest.outland.org if avatar.outland.org is unavailable.

Avatar is moving from its current location to New England. To facilitate
the move and reduce the impact on players we are going to copy all of the
files to the Avatar West server. The DNS entry for Avatar will be changed
to point to the Wast server and play will continue there until East is in
place at the new location. All pertinent files will be moved back to the
East server when it is ready.
The time frame:
At 4:00 am system time on Jan 12, 2012 both East and West will be shut down.
Pfiles, equipment files and database tables will be copied from East to West
and put in place there,
The dry runs that have been made lead me to believe that this process will
take less than 1 hour. The current plan is to have West back up by 6:05 am
eastern time.
The reason for the delay until 6:05 am is so that the time difference (2
hours) will not cause problems.
When East is in place we will reverse the process and copy everything back
to East. All experience etc gained/lost on West will be on East and the
DNS will point to East again.
We are hoping that everything will be back in place on Sunday or Monday.
