Avatar truly is a community. In the past week I've seen players help
each other in the most astonishing variety of ways. I've seen those
adept at computers help others untangle various computer glitches on
all channels from the highest to the lowest. I've seen cooking advice
given, child-rearing advice exchanged, Valentine present suggestions
solicited and obtained, and a gardening problem solved.

I've seen symptoms diagnosed and advice given for flu, colds, strains,
sprains, and depression. Providing that advice have been medical techs,
medical students, mothers, and the recently afflicted. Most of the
suffering are recovering, but now totally behind in the obligations of
real life!

Obviously I've seen death, CR, equipment, area, grouping, and other
game-related problems solved by a whole different group of experts, who
unhesitatingly share their experiences and opinions.

A common occurence has been homework help, from algebra to the perfect
word for an English composition, or help with chemistry or physics. On
any given day we have an astounding array of Avatar players doing
(or avoiding!) homework right there at the monitor.

It occurs to me that we have here experts in virtually every area of
learning and living, and that we share, with no strings, expectations,
or guarantees, the knowledge we have collectively garnered from learning
and living. And....what we don't know, someone heads out to the Internet
to find out.

Welcome to the world.

     2. Milestones......A new feature for the Gazette

Yevaud joins us as a Demi-God this week, promoted following an excellent
stint as an Acolyte. We welcome him.

     3. Random Acts of Kindness as observed by Tlara

Random Acts of Kindness observed by Tlara, a 6th level Hero Mage

Over the last few weeks, I've noticed that many people have done
many kind things to me, and everyone, many with spellups, and even
a few heros who have stuck with me through 3-4 deaths in my group,
and helped us all level.

Many of these people who gave me spellups were invisible, and did
it out of the kindness of their heart, without asking for anything
in return, or even giving away their identity. I had a very generous
hero go out and help get me some new items for my level, which
helped me immensely, someone who I just happened to walk into on the
street, whom I had never met before, and asked nothing in return.

Many people go around saying how bad, and ignorant Heros may be, but
why stereotype a group for the actions of a few? Of all the Heros and
Lords I know, only a few act like this, so I ask you all to reevaulate
your viewpoint on Heros and Lords, and perhaps get to know them better,
and thank them if they do something out of the kindess of their heart,
because, most heros really are that.. Heros.

     4. French for Mudders by Flower/Windgnome

Flower is a Level 7 Lord Ranger; Windgnome is a level 265 Hero Cleric

'llo ...here are some French proverbs suitable to daily mudding.
My natural language is French but I'll try to translate them without
losing the idea:

1.Arrière suppot de Satan. Je suis sir Lancelot.. (Arghh!) - Les
derniers mots d'un chevalier.
-->Go back evil one.I'm sir Lancelot... (arghh!) - Last words of a

2. Dieu tue indifféremment, alors pourquoi faire autrement?.
-->God kills everybody, so why to do another way

3. Quelle est la différence entre un elfe aux oreilles pointus et une
trampoline? On enlève ses bottes avant de sauter sur la trampoline.
(Devinette Orc).
-->What's the difference between a trampoline and an elf? People remove
their shoes before jumping on a trampoline (Orcish proverb)

4. Bien mal acquis fait progresser dans la Guilde (proverbe voleur).
-->Stealing gear makes you... progress in the guild (rogue proverb)

5. Les chats aboient, l'illusionniste est content de lui!.
-->Cats bark, the illusionnist is happy.

6. Au royaume des aveugles, l'invisibilité ne sert à rien!.
-->In the kingdom of the blind, invisibility is useless

7. Qui sème le vent est dèjà d'un bon niveau! (proverbe de mage).
-->One 'Take this!' is better than 2 'arghh,it hit me!'

8. Moi vois, moi tue! (proverbe orque).
-->Me see , Me kill (orcish proverb)

9. Qui a bu, mourra (proverbe d'alchimiste).

>Flower (Windgnome, ....)
     5. Trapped in Avatar's Dungeon by Jedius

Trapped in Avatar's Dungeon by Jedius, Level 180 Hero Martial Artist

"You're going to jail, perpetrator!" exclaimed the Death Guard.
The Death Guard knocked Jedius out cold. When he awoke, he was in
Jail, due to his little...mishap with the Death Guard.
"What? How did he kill me? I am HoGed!" Jedius thought. Indeed, it
happened during a HoG.
Jedius suddenly got an idea. He was going to do what no mortal has
ever do before: he was going to kill the jailer. Jedius waited and
waited, and finally the jailer came. He made sure he was still HoGed
and attacked. The jailer gave Jedius a serious beating, but Jedius
proved valiant and showed the jailer his own type of Death Row. He
snatched the key from the corpse and unlocked the door to the north.
Jedius wandered down a strange corridor. It was extremely odd, since
it was twisted. He walked on the ceiling and sides of the room. Once he
reached the end, he entered a vast room, full of doors. Jedius wondered
where all these doors go to. He came closer to one and saw "The Hunting"
labeled on it. He looked at the door next to it and it was labeled
"Igecsoz". All the doors led to an area. He looked around and spotted an
unlabeled door. Jedius was brave, so he entered the mysterious door.
As Jedius entered the door, he was suddenly warped into a vortex, as
if shifting in plane. He looked around, and said a sign that read
"Welcome to the Torture Plane, Dungeon Area". Jedius screamed and ran
back to the door...only, the door wasn't there and he slammed into the
wall, falling unconscious.
When he came to, Jedius was in a small cramped cell. He looked
through the bars and saw a clone of the executioner. Well, he wasn't
going to get out fighting...IF he got out at all. Then the executioner
came and saw Jedius peering hopelessly at him. The executioner smiled
then revealed his golden executioner's axe and gave Jedius a little
slash on his hand. Jedius gulped and sat back.
The Torture Plane seemed to be blocking any channel communication he
had, except for incoming tells to what he could not respond to. But no
matter, he received a tell from AQelDroma, asking if he wanted to group.
Jedius wanted to respond in a plea for help, but couldn't. AQelDroma
sent several other tells asking if he was alright. Suddenly, he got an
idea. He changed his title to 'Trapped in Torture Plane, can't
communicate' hoping that AQelDroma would see and get help. Indeed she
did, and called an Imm.
Unfortunately the Imm could not do anything because it was a new
plane and was full of bugs. But the Immortal gave AQelDroma the key to a
trap door in Jedius's cell. He opened a nexus for items and AQelDroma
wrote a quick note saying "Trap door below you. Key is here" and wrapped
it around the key and dropped it in.
The key fell into Jedius's cell hitting him on the head, and he
winced. He read the note and searched for the keyhole. He unlocked the
trap door and with much effort, pulled it open. All he saw was complete
void, but it was better than where he was so he dropped in.
After a while, he found himself sleeping in Sanctum...it was all a
nightmare?! But then he saw the executioner's slash and realized that he
survived an amazing experience, and decided to tell the Realm of it.
